ORANGE PARK AMATEUR RADIO CLUB  MINUTES

JUNE 2017

The OPARC June 2017 meeting was called to order by the President, Don Anhslog, and guests were welcomed and introductions were made.  Jerry Tabor welcomed new members.

A motion was made and passed to approve the minutes from the May 2017 meeting.

Treasurer’s report: Mark Fields is out of town and on the road.  Treasurer’s report tabled until he returns.

REPEATER:  Ted Jahn said the PA for the 2-meter rig has been ordered.  All working well.

QRP:  Ted Jahn and Obe Reinhart have been doing work with Raspberry Pi and WSPR.  This group meets on the second and last Saturdays of the month.

TRAILER REPORT:  Jim Winfrey reported that a 6 x 16-foot trailer has been purchased.  The club’s smaller trailer now has a new floor which has been painted with epoxy paint donated by Bob Meadows.  It has been pressured washed and is looking good.

ARES REPORT:  Adrian Gray stated that Field Day is one of Clay County ARES’ major projects.  Please come out and support Field Day!

Clay Ares also supported the Memorial Day run sponsored by the Florida Striders.  There was a good turnout for the run and volunteers from Clay Ares.

NEW BUSINESS:

Field Day 2017

PIO – Scott Roberts – 170 invitations were sent to every news and radio station in Northeast Florida, and every official in Clay County.  Also, Public Service announcements will be sent out to television and radio stations. 

On Wednesday before Field Day, Channel 4 will be interviewing Scott Roberts and Joe Bassett.  You don’t want to miss this!

Also, make sure to test all radio gear you are bringing to Field Day.  Also, put your name and/or call sign on all equipment that is yours.  Bring hats, gloves and wear sturdy shoes if you are planning to help with the antennas.  Please bring a change of clothes as the weather is hot and you won’t want to wear sweaty clothing all day.  We want to make a good impression on our guests!

Friday afternoon before Field Day – volunteers are needed to move desks and chairs and set up tables for the both rooms that will be used.  Many people make light work of this task!  Also, antennas will be laid out for easy access on Saturday morning.

Saturday Morning – Breakfast at Golden Corral at 8:00 AM!

Meet at the Orange Park High School around 10:00 AM., ready to work!

Software to be set up by Eric Sanders, Chris White and Obie Reinhart.

Please remember that all media should be directed to either Scott Roberts or Joe Bassett.

Information table – this will have flyers and ARRL information (volunteers to order brochures from ARRL are Don Anhslog, Chris White, Joe Porter, and Del Ihle.

Be ready to be on a radio at 2:00 PM.  Please do not leave children unattended.  If possible, move to the social room for extended conversations.

Sunday tear down – please don’t just leave!  Volunteers are also needed to take down antennas, move desks and chairs back in place, and to make sure the classrooms we use are left in better condition than we found them!!!!
