ORANGE PARK AMATEUR RADIO CLUB  MINUTES
OCTOBER 2017

The OPARC  October  2017 meeting was called to order by the President, Don Anhslog, and guests were welcomed and introductions were made, and new members welcomed.

A motion was made and passed to approve the minutes of the September 2017 meeting.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Checking –  $   765.89
Savings –    $2,237.66
Cash –        $   402.75
TOTAL –      $3,406.30

The Board of Directors approved lifetime membership to remain the same as it has been.  A motion was made, seconded and passed.

REPEATERS:  The repeater is still at Obie’s house which was flooded during Hurricane Irma.  The repeater is dry.  The question was asked if anyone has room at their home to continue work on the repeater.

QRP:  Join us the second and last Saturdays of the month.  The meeting is held at the Fleming Island Public Library.

We have a request for an Elmer, Green Cove Springs area.  Please contact Don or Scott if interested.

Also, George Tower is a former member who needs a ride in order to come to the meetings.  Ted Jahn volunteered to contact him.

Tom King has a tower and needs volunteers to help in getting it up and running.  Please contact him if interested.

ARES REPORT:

Clay ARES supported the MS-150 bike ride on October 15-16.

The Melborne HAM Fest meeting noted that there were not enough people to man the shelters during Hurricane Irma.  Many thanks to all who participated either by manning a shelter or monitoring during the storm.

UPCOMING ELECTIONS:

It’s that time again!  Nominations for officers for 2018 will be online soon and you can also submit written nominations to either Don or Scott.

TOYS FOR TOTS:

The deadline for Toys for Tots is the November meeting.  Please remember the age group 10-14 as this is the most overlooked category.  Thanks!

SKYWARN:

If you are interested in SKYWARN, please contact Scott Roberts.  Remember, SKYWARN members do not chase storms – they report occurrences of hail, tornadoes, flooding.  Online spotter classes are available.

CHRISTMAS PARTY!  Accepting suggestions for places to hold it this year.  Please contact Don or Scott if you have a suggestion.
